About HRTP

The HIV Research Training Program (HRTP) is a research training program which began in 1988 and is sponsored by the Fogarty International Center (FIC) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program awards grants to U.S institutions with established and strong HIV/AIDS research fellowship training experience and HIV-related research partnerships with institutions in low to middle income countries (LMIC). HRTP grants are aimed at training scientists from the LMIC, thus enhancing HIV-related research and public health capacities at the institutions and subsequently impacting the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS and HIV-related conditions in the countries.
